The Crossroads of Change: Unplugging from The Hysteria

You would have to live very deep underground to not have noticed the crazy happenings in society. Almost everyone has been affected, in some way, by the engulfing mass hysteria that has swept the world. It is easy to believe that most of it is politically fuelled but; it is my belief, the real reason goes much deeper than that.crossroads2

The world is not a happy place. The masses are angry and afraid. Either because there are changes afoot they do not agree with or they are scared to speak out about their true beliefs for the fear of being labelled as racist, sexist, stupid, a conspiracy theorist or not politically correct.

Dogmatism and cognitive dissonance is rife. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought and individuality are being supressed. And the energy of hate is skyrocketing. It certainly feels like all humans are being manipulated to turn on each other. This is not a recent thing it has been building for a while and affecting Empaths on many levels.

2016 was one of the most energetically chaotic years I can remember. Not so much from a personal perspective, but within the populace. There was so much shifting going on that no one could hide from the turbulently vexed energy being pumped out. I don’t know of anyone who did not face some type of challenge, pain or frustration during 2016 (even if it was just political frustrations). Empaths, the world over, were drawn into this tumultuous vibrational energy, if even indirectly, without realizing. Even those who considered themselves to be in a good vibrational space, were affected.

For me, I look back on 2016 and see it as a huge transitional year. A time of growth and empowerment. But it was not an easy year to live through and, it would seem, 2017 has started much the same.

We reside in a world going through the quickening of change. These changes are causing trauma, chaos, emotional pain, depression and more. Although trauma and upheaval may be considered as emotionally damaging, it actually leads to growth and spiritual awareness… if we allow it. Trauma is the first step we take across the tempestuous waters of awakening. Pain is a prelude to birth.

For some, the initial stages of awakening are seen in random behaviours. Two of these being: denial and blame. In the past couple of years, you will have seen this behaviour everywhere. People pointing the finger of blame and convincing themselves their problems lie in the hands of another. Most are so busy avoiding themselves, and instead lashing out at others, that they are miss a unique opportunity for transformation.

Suffering is part of the ‘wake-up call’. People far and wide are hearing the sirens of the awakening, and call to change, but it is their choice how the transition goes. The words of Tony Robbins spring to mind:

‘Change is inevitable. Evolution, however, is a choice

We can choose to wake-up, evolve and grow or we can choose to stay in denial. Denial is the comfortable, normally, safe passage. At least for a while. However, we can’t ignore evolution forever. If we try things will eventually become so bad that we are forced to change.

All humans are presently being fed fuel to stoke up raging emotions, such as anger, bitterness and hate. If we engage them, these types of emotions keep us trapped in mental conflict and away from finding peace and harmony.

Evil begets evil. Hate breeds hate. Anger feeds anger. Fear fuels fear. The more of this type of energy people put out into the world the more it grows.

We all have light and darkness within; both love and hate. Whichever we choose to give the most attention to will be the force that guides our feelings, thoughts and choices. Choose wisely. We are the creators of our own reality.

Strange Things Afoot

It is clear there are some seriously strange things happening in the world. (If you’ve read anything about the Mandela Effect or the flat Earth theory, you’ll know what I mean). There is a lot of positive change happening and many truths are being revealed. But we are also being distracted to prevent us from discovering our own power. Distraction is a powerful tool. When our mind is preoccupied with all the wrongs in the world, we don’t see what is right. And we don’t notice the powerful positive and uplifting energy that is all around us.

We are at the crossroads of change. Being a crossroads means we have a choice of which direction to take. We can choose the path of denial and despair or the one of love and gratitude. That choice is often determined by where we place our focus.

You would think it’s a no brainer for us to choose the positive, love energy. But the more people who focus and send out the hate/fear energy the more this builds and the harder it is not to become embroiled in. For anyone Sensitive, this low-level energy, that has swept the globe, is agonizing to experience. But it can also be perversely alluring; drawing us in without our realizing.

I too have been lured into engaging the distressing and emotionally provoking news, designed to distract, divide and enrage. And yes, I get wound up by it all. I keep having to remind myself to unplug and stay switched off from it. No good comes from occupying the mind with such negatively charged news.

Some might argue that we have a duty to stay informed, we should fight for our rights and silence is consent. And as much as I may agree with that, most of what we are being fed is shameful propaganda, which does nothing but feed our darkest emotions and pains the soul.

When we focus on the incredible force of gratitude and love it is a game changer. You see more and more positive come into your life. This amazing energy is all around us, we just need to take our eyes off the distractions and diversions to realize it.

By not giving our attention to anything which feeds negative emotions, we can free ourselves and then take our focus to the more positive. Choosing to stay unplugged is the best form of protection at this time. Especially if you are badly affected by all the hysterical energy.

Here are some excellent ways to stay unplugged:

  • Stay away from the media: Online news, social media and televised news reports can lure you into negative thinking, frustration and anger.
  • Avoid politics: Don’t get involved in dogmatic discussions and avoid those who seem to thrive when politically venting.
  • Steer clear of large groups of people or protests: Mass hysteria is contagious and drags everyone in, even those with the best intentions.
  • Pursue your passions: Do what you love and be creative as often as you can (your own form of distraction).
  • Express gratitude every day throughout the day: Be grateful for anything you can. A delicious meal, a good book, film or just the traffic lights being on green. Keep pumping this positive energy out.
  • Keep control of the mind: Meditate or perform moving meditations like yoga, Thai-chi or dance.
  • Get outdoors: Spend as much time in nature as possible and bask some natural sunlight.

Pain serves us in mysterious ways. We eventually come to a point when we understand why we endured all we have, and we recognize how our pain shaped and changed us for the better. But we don’t need to keep experiencing it over and over. We have a choice. Now is the time to start shaping your new reality by unplugging from the old.

How to Spot A Residual Energy Attack

Hope everything is keeping really well in your life and (depending on what part of the world you live in) you are enjoying these lovely summer months.

Continuing on from my last post about how residual energy impacts the Empath, I am here following up with information about the residual energy  picked up from people and  why it gets caught up in our energy field and how it affects us.

Residual energy from others can seep into our aura and influence our thoughts and moods for days after being picked up. Anyone and everyone can leave a dark mark of lingering energy when in a low mood, but those who affect Empaths in the most painful ways are the people who act as emotional trauma triggers (ETTs).

To those who are Sensitive, the mere mention of an ETT’s name is enough to ignite an unpleasant emotional response. But the worst reaction happens when one has spent time in their presence and their imprint has infused into one’s energetic body. Continue reading

Why Empaths Need Protection

There are some major changes/shifts going on, energetically, that are affecting all of us (humans) on many levels and these changes are bringing about a lot of pain, emotional disruptions and repetitive, negative thought patterns.

Generally, when there are major energy shifts all Empaths, HSPs and anyone of a Sensitive nature get clobbered from all directions.

If you are feeling like you are going seriously cuckoo with all the energies and emotions you are processing it is probably a good time to pull out your ‘protective-tools arsenal’ and start experimenting with different techniques. Rewiring and Rebooting

Already more than half-way through 2014 and it has to be said, this year is proving to be a game-changer!

The changes happening around us are palpable in every way and becoming more so with each passing day! These shifts and changes are all about bringing in the new way of BEing.

Rewiring and rebooting are words used a lot within ascension circles as an expression of how we are being affected by the current energies/changes, but at this present time, I feel these two words could not be more appropriate.

We have seen some random days of intense energy bursts, which may have lifted you up or brought you crashing down.

These shifts in energy have brought in many changes. Emotionally, the themes I am seeing/feeling mostly in others (and on some days in myself), is anger, frustration and depression.

This video (which I very timely just came across) is a must watch/listen for these current times. If you have not yourself experienced depression, pass it on to those you know who have.

There are some other ways in which these energies may have affected you physically and emotionally and here’s a sampling:

Feeling energetically wired with an intense rush of power pulsing through your body:

This fizzy-type energy cannot be mistaken, it pretty much leaves you feeling like you have been charged up with electricity. And although you may feel mentally or physically tired, this buzzing energy can keep you awake at night.

Brain fog:

Poor memory recall and a fuzzy head seems to be the norm in recent years, but do not be surprised if you are feeling more scatty than normal.

Intense emotional ups and downs, very bi-polar in nature, or being hyper-sensitive:

It may seem like I’m stating the obvious here as, for Empaths, it is normal to feel strong emotions, yet these emotions/sensations are not like the normal ones we experience. They come out of nowhere and range from anger to blissful happiness. You may find yourself waking up in a bad mood, with no reason for it, or little things that would not normally bother you suddenly have you riled. Then you may find yourself feeling happier than you ever have.

We are also getting the backlash of other’s strong emotions. Many people are now being activated or effected by the rewire and, as I have said many times before, it can be very easy to lay claim to other’s emotions and build them into our own life-story.

Having zero tolerance for selfish or self-pitying behaviour and drawing a line under past dramas:

You may have previously been able to put up with another’s self-centred ways, but now find yourself quickly backing away from their dramas. You may now have come to a point where you will no longer put up with bad behaviour, nor allow others to pull you down into their self-perpetuating crisis’s. You have decided enough is enough!

This is not by chance. It’s as though we are disconnecting from all the irresolvable dramas, family or friendship feuds that we had in our past, not wanting them to have any part in our future.

And there are very good reasons for this:

You have very likely been on this path for many years and during this time dealt with your emotional wounds, whilst others around you looked on and/or had no idea what you were enduring. Now and in recent times, those others are now going through these changes. It is their turn to process/deal with their emotional wounds and if you have found yourself walking away or distancing yourself from family or lifelong friends past dramas, selfish behaviour or other, it is your internal knowing stopping you from getting involved.

You may have also found past issues have recently been stirred up. Painful memories that you had long since forgotten, or already dealt with, suddenly arise within. It may have left you baffled as to why you are experiencing this now and the reason is very likely because these (or other) memories have been triggered within a friend or family member, as part of the energetic shifts and you are feeling or picking up on them. This may have further pushed you away from them.

For Empaths, walking away from those in emotional turmoil is not something that would have previously come naturally, so it may feel somewhat alien if you are finding yourself doing it. You are not being harsh or brutal by drawing a line, and not engaging in ‘their stuff’, it is simply not yours to deal with and they have to do it for themselves. This is very much a DIY process!

Changing one’s diet and lifestyle:

Giving up people, foods, drinks and habits that do not promote all-round health, happiness and wellbeing is the way forward. Most people will have made gradual changes to their lifestyle over recent years, but now it is as though all the ‘health’ pieces are clicking together and you are finding a diet or exercise plan that works for you to heal your body, mind and spirit.

Ready to take the leap:

You may suddenly feel very ready to make big changes: in your career, social life or habitat. You may also find yourself finally doing things you have wanted to do, but put off for years. It’s as though the past self-doubts that previously held us back, no longer have the same hold. We know we’ve got to meet our new life half-way and that means stepping out into the world to bring it forth.

These are just some of the ways you may have experienced the new and I’m sure there will be many others too, not listed here, but one thing is for sure: if we are to truly move forward in life we cannot have the old dramas (people, jobs, lifestyles) dragging or keeping us back.

The new is ready for us when we are ready for the new…

Looking For The Signs

It was my intention that my next post be about the powers of meditating and although that post is near finished I thought it important to write about what’s now happening for many of us, emotionally and physically, because things have been uncomfortable lately…to say the least.

Have you been experiencing extreme, and I mean extreme, fatigue recently? If you have you are certainly not the only one. And has your body been experiencing all sorts of maladies and ailments that just seem to be amping up? For me, it’s go to a point where I’m thinking it’s got to be something other than these ‘crazy ascending times’. So, in my bid to try to take responsibility (or more like control) I’ve researched food intolerance, early menopause, nervous breakdowns and the like because things have been just getting, well, ridiculous (and I thought they were bad before). All the symptoms we have could be attributed to any or all the above (menopause, food intolerance, depression etc) and for some, that’s what they could be suffering with, but the fact they tend to be inconsistent, ever-changing and have oscillated of their own accord over many years, lets us know that they can’t be written off with a prescription. Also, everything seems to be peaking now like we’ve reached the precipice.

We all need to accept that much of what we are going through is still part of ‘The Shift’ and it is my belief that things tend to get worse before they get better… (Lets just hope we’ve reached the worst of the worst). It would seem that in many cases we are not in control and there is little we can do to stop the onslaught of strange anomalies bombarding us. But as long as we are still taking the steps to stay healthy through exercise, meditation, a good diet and nutrition ( and maybe checking in with your doctor, just to be sure) and avoiding that which we know does not agree with us, we can do little more than ride the ‘ascending wave’.

Feeling out of control can leave us feeling vulnerable and weak and it’s here that the word ‘surrender’ comes in again: We need to surrender our need to be in control and accept that what is happening to us is part of the bumpy passage out of the Old and our ‘Rebirth’ into the New.

On our more challenging days, when we maybe struggling with fatigue, sadness and apathy, as well as aches and pains in the body. Many of us will be at the stage of, or already gone well beyond, the point of losing faith in anything to do with planetary and personal ascension. We’ve gone through this ‘stuff’ for too, too long and instead of things getting better, physically and mentally, they seem to get worse. I for one did not think that I could take this much pain, and in truth, had I known things would be like this all those years ago I probably would not have wanted to take part in raising my vibration. Would any of us?

Here is a short list of common symptoms you maybe struggling with. I have listed some of the symptoms below in earlier posts but as they have amped up again I thought it good to reiterate:

  • Extreme fatigue
  • Twitches in the parts of the body, especially eye area
  • Painful, stiff or sore joints, especially vertebrae of spine
  • Extreme brain fog and poor memory
  • Apathy towards most things, even that which we formerly used to enjoy
  • Excess acid, either in stomach or in chest causing heartburn
  • Depression, sadness or loneliness (even when surrounded by others) and lack of self-worth
  • Erratic sleep patterns
  • Unusual dreams
  • Many painful experiences either through being treated badly by others, especially loved ones, or watching others suffer
  • Constantly having to fight one’s corner. This is not so much of a symptom but when continuously coming up against opposition to our opinions, whether in regards to spiritual stuff or not, can be utterly draining and demoralizing to our spirit

Watch the signs 

Luckily, we have days in between the darkness when are hearts are wide open and we feel so much love for all of life, and it’s on these days that we can see just how far we’ve come. And because these ‘love days’ are becoming more frequent, the knowing that we are going to experience more and more of this is helping us push through. In our hearts we all know that we are heading somewhere good, even though on many days our minds will convince us otherwise. And it’s on the days when we are feeling like we can take no more that we come across posts like this one (these are our signs). When we write on our blogs like these, we are leaving notes of support for each other.

Amidst the darkness, you have probably noticed more synchronicity lately, that we could easily pass off as coincidence, such as thinking about something then it happening very quickly after or needing something then it randomly appearing. In unusual ways, I keep getting the message to ask for help, or to ask for what I want. This is very likely because it’s time to start creating the new world or that which we want and we need to put the intention out in the form of a request before it can be manifested.

We all get recurring signs, although you may not have consciously noticed them yet. Like many others, my signs are seeing a series of numbers personal to me or single feathers. Whenever I see them, I know to check what I was just thinking about because they are a signal for me to pay attention. If, for example, I was pondering a certain action in my mind and see ‘my sign’ at the same time, I know it is a positive thing and to pursue it. We are now at a stage where we should be getting ready to move into the new. For so long it has seemed pointless beginning anything because so many of our previous endeavours ended up being fruitless or non-starters. After clearing so much, many of us are now either nearly or very ready to bring our new life into existence, even if in baby-steps. There is still clearing to do but our shackles are being loosened. So, although things are still not where we want to be and we maybe struggling in many ways, we are getting closer… Can you feel it?

The Joys of Solar Flares… or maybe not…

Well, it’s been a while since my last post, over 2 months. I spent the latter half of November and most of December in India doing my yoga teacher training (which was the most amazing, albeit challenging, experience). And as I don’t tend to fare well in the dark, winter months in the way of motivation, I have not had the inclination to put fingertips to key board since my return. However, I thought it important to write a post this week because of the adverse effects the solar flare, which hit earth last Tuesday, has had on myself and those around me. It’s knocked me right out of my groove and I’m sure it’s doing the same thing to countless others who aren’t aware of solar storms and their effect on humans, hence this post.

I first noticed something was amiss on Sunday evening with the arrival of some turbulently vexed emotions, but hadn’t linked them in with the solar flares until yesterday. Tues and Weds were the worst days, they were pretty unbearable. Here’s a list of  some of the symptoms endured:

  • pressure in the head and ears, and headaches
  • excessive thirst
  • body/muscle soreness, similar to flu symptoms
  • disturbed sleep
  • exhaustion coupled with exhilaration
  •  irrational anger
  • intense grief
  • depression

On Tuesday the symptoms had got so bad I was starting to question my sanity. My emotions were ranging from rage to feeling like I was in mourning. I didn’t know what to do with them or where to place them. And I wasn’t buying into it being about issues/emotions from my past that I’d not dealt with. The emotional and physical maladies weren’t showing me anything, they were just there. I had no control over what I was feeling and unlike the usual ascension related emotions, they weren’t coming in waves lasting 20 mins to an hour, they were constant. Nothing I tried shifted them or lightened the load: yoga, meditation, walking in nature etc. I was baffled by it all until I noticed on the news that the largest solar flare since 2005 had hit the earth on Tuesday 24th and it gave me an ‘aha’ moment in that this had to be the reason I had gone completely cuckoo for 2 days.

My mind went back to the information I’d come across last year on Mitch Battros’s website: http://www.earthchangesmedia.com – on how the solar flares can affect humans, emotionally and physically, I remembered that I’d previously been affected by them (although not to this extent). Battros has worked alongside Mayan elders and done much research on Mayan predictions and the effects of solar activity. His scientific research along with ancient text documents suggests the ending of the Mayan Calendar may very well be connected to solar activity, it shows that charged particles emitted by the Sun in the way of solar flares, CME’s and coronal holes are the cause of extreme earth changes such as earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, and tornadoes, it also indicates the very same magnetic flux which affects the Earth, also affects humans, in that the magnetic field which surrounds the Earth is similar to the magnetic field which surrounds every living thing.

Equation:          Sunspots => Solar Flares (charged particles) => Magnetic Field Shift => Shifting Ocean and Jet Stream Currents => Extreme Weather and Human Disruption (mitch battros 1998).

So there we go, something to for you to ponder. If you’ve come across this post, chances are you may have been affected by the solar flares. And the more sensitive you are the more you’ll have had to endure. We’re probably going to be in for a very bumpy ride this year, if this flare was anything to go by, as it’s expected we’ll be getting more, much more and it would seem there is nothing else to do but accept that this (and all the other crap we’ve been through) is a by-product of The Shift and see where it takes us. I think the best thing we can all do is: slow down our thoughts through meditation, exercise, get out in nature, drink plenty of water and eat well… and, probably most importantly, keep the faith.

The Eve of Change

So here we are on the eve of 11/11/11 wondering what tomorrow will bring. For those of us who are sensitive, there has still been lots of ascension symptoms to deal with of late. The most prominent being lethargy or chronic fatigue. Then there’s the strange things happening during sleep-time. Could perhaps, our dreams be trying to tell us something?

Are you making simple mistakes and feel like your brain is made from candy floss? Or do you have incredible muscle weakness and stiff bones…? Join the club. Many of you will, no doubt, have a range of symptoms not listed here but whatever maladies you maybe suffering you can guarantee our rational mind’s will try to find a reason for these ailments, sending us out to find remedies or a cure. In some cases, holistic treatments, extra vitamins or a tonic may help, but as has always been the case with ascension symptoms, they will leave in their own time.

Our pets are feeling them too. Have you noticed your furry friend needing more sleep than normal? Or being slow to get up in the morning? I guess it’s not too difficult for our pets though, for them to sleep all day is no big deal… it would be great if we could say the same.

The date 11/11/11 is holding hope for many that it will see an end to our ascension symptoms and allow us to come into realization of what our future paths will hold. Many of us have lived in the void for too long, feeling like we’re floating without direction. It has taken much faith on our parts to keep going, but we have because we believe what we’ve endured has been for a purpose. It’s been a lonely path, with many of us having no one to talk to about what we’ve experienced or what we believe is really going on… and it’s not for want of trying. But then, this was our journey, our own unique experience through life.

As I wrote in my last post I finally understand how privileged we’ve been to have had lived in these amazing times and have had this life experience. We’ve been be able to live half in and half out of the 3D world, having a knowing that others didn’t. We’ve weathered much and seen the full spectrum of the rainbow and now, as we step over the next threshold, it’s time to receive our ‘pots of gold’.

How will you spend your 11th day? Working? In prayer or meditation? At an organised gathering? I hope that however you chose to spend your day and evening you will do it in celebration. Celebration of what is over and what is to come. And as I’ve said before, even though what we’ve been through has been tough, very, very tough, many of you would not wish to change one  single aspect of you life since your awakening, whether that be 10 days, 10 months or 10 years ago. Happy 11/11/11.

Grounding Techniques for Empaths

For Empaths and Sensitives, in these trying times, it is a challenge for us to stay grounded as we are constantly being bombarded with a real mix of negative, external emotions. Even if we stay home and don’t venture out of our personal sanctuaries, our empathic antennas are picking up so much of the pain from the outside world. Because of this we can easily become consumed with depression, listlessness and apathy and lose sight of what our roles here are to do.

All of the following techniques have been tried and tested by yours truly and I can attest to the benefits of them. Although I have to say on the darker days,  even these techniques don’t always clear the emotional debris.

Change your thoughts: Many of us help create our life situations with the thoughts we keep, especially dark, repetitive ones. From the second a negative thought pops into our head we only have a matter of moments before its settles in and changes our mindset from positive to negative, once this happens, one bad thought after another keeps rolling in. The best way to avoid it is not to indulge in them in the first place. When a dark thought pounces, change it, immediately, to a good one. Sounds simple, it’s not. It’s difficult, but we do have a choice about what we think (and feel). We can allow our thoughts to rule us or we can rule our thoughts… Change your thoughts change your life!

Water: The body is made up of 75% water (some body tissue even contains 95%), so it will come as no surprise that this is way up there on the self-healing scale. Many of us are unaware of just how dehydrated we are. An insufficient supply of water creates problems with the functioning of our body, affects our well-being, appearance and accelerates the ageing process.

Most of us should be drinking at least 8 glasses of pure water a day, just to replenish what our body loses naturally through sweating, urination etc. The heavier we are the more water we need.

If you type, ‘the healing powers of water,’ into any search engine you will get hundreds of pages worth of information on the subject, but by far the best I have so far come across is the site of Dr F. Batmanghelidj M.D. who is a pioneer in the discoveries of the healing power of water. He has written many books on the subject, the most renowned being, The Body’s Many Cries for Water.  He reveals many of his findings on his website www.watercure.com.  Here you will find an abundance of well-researched-data on how water can heal the body and how to consume it safely, without flushing our necessary minerals from the body.  And, unlike many other sites, he does not charge for the information.

His mantra is, ‘You’re not sick; you’re thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication’. And it has been his life’s mission to get this word out to the world.

There is an old religious saying (or at least it was used by many God-fearing Christians in yesteryear), ‘Cleanliness is second to godliness.’ I used to believe the saying was a ridiculous, bully-tactic for making young children clean behind their ears (which in those days it probably was), but now I can see it from another point of view. Water washes more than just dirt away; it has the power to cleanse our energetic body and clear negative energies. If you’re sceptical, try this when you come home from a hard day at work: Instead of reaching for the wine, jump straight in the shower and see what a lifting effect it has on you. Sea Salt: It is said that the ‘father of medicine,’ Socrates, was amongst the first to discover the, almost magical, healing ability of sea salt, after noticing how quickly seawater would heal wounded fishermen’s hands.

Sea Salt Not only is sea salt a great medicinal healer, it is deeply purifying. It has the power to draw out and dissolve negative energies from the emotional and physical body. This is especially helpful if your day involves interacting with others, where too often you end up picking their stressed or anxious energy.

The best way to get an external, daily, salt cleanse (if you don’t live near the ocean) is in a salt bath. Immersing the body for at least 20 minutes in salt water will get rid of any negative emotions picked up during the day. This is especially important for empaths who absorb negative energies like a sponge. For best results add 1 to 2 cups of sea salt to a warm bath (along with your favourite essential oil or a crystal. See below). If you don’t have time for a soak then another great option is a salt-scrub prior to showering. (You can easily make this from fine milled sea salt and oil).  Not only will the salt clear unwanted energies, it will also leave your skin silky smooth and glowing.

Nadi Shodhana/Alternate Nostril Breathing: Balance your inner masculine and feminine energy (which easily gets out of balance in these times) by doing alternate nostril breathing:

Sit comfortably with your back straight and eyes closed. Place the tip of the right thumb on the edge of the right nostril and the right, ring finger hovering over the left nostril. Closing off the right nostril inhale through the left for a count of 3. Close the left nostril then exhale through the right for a count of 3, inhale through the right for a count of 3. Close the right nostril and exhale through the left… this was 1 round of Nadi Shodhana, do 9 more then build up to at least 20. It is normal when beginning Pranyama (breathing exercises) to get a little dizzy, if this happens just resume normal breathing until it passes.

Exercise and play: In the western world many of us turn to exercise for the benefits of weight loss and a toned body. However, exercise offers so much more: it can release pent-up emotions, remove impurities through sweat, enhances and uplifts moods, energizes and allows us to have fun. Instead of referring to it as workout-time, we should call it playtime.

When it comes to playtime do what you love. Some of you maybe stuck in a boring exercise routine that you do out of necessity rather than play. If this is the case, find something you love. What did you love to do as a child? Being out on your bike? Skipping? Hula-Hooping? Bouncing up and down on a trampoline? Horse-riding? All excellent forms of play (exercise). If you detested running and were no good at it, chances are it will probably be the same now. If you loved gymnastics then yoga will definitely be a great one for you to try.

If you don’t like rules, routines or set times then go freestyle. Make the rules yourself. Get the music cranked up and dance like nobody’s watching (which it’s probably best if no one is whilst throwing your shapes out). Dance, stretch and jump your cares away and get a sweat on. All you need is 10 minutes a day, but I guarantee if you’re doing something you love those 10 minutes will easily turn into 20, 30 or 40… Who needs a gym or a class?

Meditation: This is a must if you have a busy head with endless mind-chatter and fearful thoughts. It will help you deal with stressful situations and give you clearer insight. There are many forms of meditation out there; it’s just a case of finding what suits you. If you’ve never attempted it here’s one to try:

Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight, close your eyes and, breathing through your nose, focus on your breath. Inhale for 3 seconds and exhale for 3 seconds. On the inhale feel your tummy expand and on the exhale feel it deflate (Note: when you first try this it is common to get dizzy or feel anxious). You will find, at first, your mind turns into a monkey and starts jumping all over the place, from one thought to the next, but just keep coming back to your breath. Start with a few minutes and build it up to whatever suits you.

Creativity: In a world of rules and routine, we seldom get time to be creative but this is one of the easiest ways to revel in the feel-good-factor. When we create, from our passions or interests, it has an uplifting effect on our psyche and because we’re engaging in something we love it keeps our minds away from dark thoughts and feelings.

Many will say that they’re not creative because they don’t see themselves as artistic. But you don’t have to be a master crafter or award-winning composer to indulge in creative outlets. Simply making a dance routine, writing a story or poem, arranging flowers or devising a menu, are forms of creativity. We all have a way to be creative, it maybe that you’ve just not discovered yours yet.

Chakra balancing: We have 7 main chakras which are part of our energetic body. They are our centres of spiritual power that run the length of our body, from our root chakra (lower torso) to our crown chakra (crown of head). The chakras are whirling vortices of energy that are aligned with our endocrine system (organs which secrete hormones such as adrenalin, cortisone and thyroxine into the body), which if out of whack can create disease (dis-ease) within the body. The 3 best ways to self-balance our chakras is through: meditation, yoga or using crystals:

Yoga: Many people say yoga is not for them, but it’s the very people who turn away from yoga that are the ones who need it most. Yoga will serve anyone and everyone no matter what age or ability and it should be a staple in every person’s life.

YogaThere is a yogic saying that, ‘We’re only young as the spine is flexible.’ And because yoga works to create a supple spine it could be classed as an elixir of youth.

The very core of yoga is built on our breath. We breathe our way in and out of postures and for this reason yoga can be classed as a moving meditation. It stills and calms an overworked mind (which is why many will say it’s not for them because they fear the stillness) and creates a strong supple body.

There are many forms of yoga and there will be a fit for everyone. For those sporty types who love to work hard and build a sweat there’s Ashtanga or Bikram yoga. For those who need a gentler pace there’s Iyengar or Dru yoga.

The hardest part of yoga is getting on the mat, once there your body will flow gracefully through the poses and thank you for it after.

Nature: Being outdoors in nature will have a healing and uplifting effect on all. If you work in a city with no access to parkland make sure you get out at weekends away from cars and air pollution.

Laughter: As grown-ups we spend too much time being solemn and serious, and too little time having fun (especially in the current times). Do you remember the last time you had a proper belly laugh?

You don’t stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing!

We hear children laugh all the time. They don’t know how to take life seriously, it’s all about play and fun. We should all strive to stay childlike. To see the world in wonder and above all have fun and laugh. Anything that makes us laugh will make our spirits soar. It really is a therapy.

Crystals: The healing power of crystals has long been known in many cultures, from Atlantis to ancient Egypt.  Many ancients had crystal chambers that would be used to heal many an ailment.

Blue Purple Red: Amethyst Crystals

Crystals can be used in conjunction with the chakras to help balance them and remove blockages. This can be done by matching the colour of the chakra with the colour of a crystal. For example: the solar plexus chakra is yellow so a good choice would be Citrine. The sacral chakra is orange so Amber could be used. And the throat chakra is blue so Blue-Lace Agate would work to balance it. Place the crystal on the body, inline with the chakra. Truth: Truth is an all encompassing liberator and once you become an advocate your eyes will be opened to another world.

The Truth Will Set You Free… It’s True!!!

Finding the truth of who you really are is probably, one of the hardest things you will have to face whilst on this path of awakening.

If you are struggling with the current shift that is happening on our planet, I can guarantee, one of the reasons will be that you are not facing your personal truth. The person you see in the mirror is probably an accumulation of fear-based emotions, untruths, rejections and painful events, built up from your personal history. Ever heard the saying, ‘we’re not really upset about what we think we’re upset about?’ It means we’re not facing the true cause of our pain.

Finding your truth is not an overnight process. I’m sorry to say it can take years, well at least it took me years (and although I’ve come a long way, it’s still something I’m working on). Perhaps if I had known what an impact finding my truth would have had on me, I would have searched it out long ago. It was part of my journey to go the long way round, perhaps, so I could share the information here.

So how did I make the discovery? That the truth will set you free…? Journaling, or in other words keeping a diary.

When I was at my lowest ebb (part of my resistance to the transition) I did not want to talk to anyone about what I was feeling inside. I believed it would make me appear weak and vulnerable. I felt frustrated that I was not in control of my emotions (I later found out that many of them were not mine. See traits of an empath) and, as I was not prepared to talk to anyone about it, I had to find a way to offload. I did this by journaling.

I came across journaling, quite by chance during a quest to improve my writing skills. In her book, Writing down the Bones, Natalie Goldberg explained, that in order to hone one’s writing ability one should write everyday.

The idea was just to put pen to paper and see what came out… Well, you can probably guess the rest. My ‘writer in training manuals’ turned into my soul-searching journals.

I found that when I started to journal it flowed out of me so fast and furiously that I had to make sure I had many, easy flowing, pens and spiral-bound pads. I would write and write about something and nothing: having arguments on paper with myself, analysing the behaviour of others, comparing spiritual teachings, to name a few.

I wasn’t writing things down with the intention of ever re-reading them. In the beginning, some of my writings could be quite venomous, depending on my mood. Even my beloved dog got written about in an unsavoury way, on one of my darker days. It was all a release valve, a way of discharging many years worth of pent-up emotions from my emotional body. I learnt that by putting my issues on paper I could better understand them. It enabled me to see it all from a higher perspective or in other words, ‘The bigger picture’.

It was during my time of journaling that I realised I was not being honest, in life or in my writings. I was not allowing my true-self to make an appearance because I was so used to hiding my real feelings, that I wasn’t sure how to let them out. So, I allowed myself to be completely honest in my journal. And when I did I found it so liberating, although, admittedly difficult at first, to finally be revealing and facing the truth of myself.

One of the problems I first faced in writing ‘my truth’ was I was afraid someone may read my journals and discover my secrets, the secrets of my personal weakness’s that I had managed to keep hidden from the world. You may now be wondering what kind of secrets are lurking in my closet… to be fair, nothing notable or juicy, they are relatively standard. Here’s a sampling: I feared (still do) being judged, not being good enough, not being liked, being controlled by others and the worst one… people finding out about any of the above and using them against me.

By confronting and analysing my baggage I made discoveries about myself and realised my real issues were not what I thought they were. For example, I would get upset or angry with others if they let me down; I later discovered, through journaling, my real problem was that I did not like, not being in control, I’m a quiet control-freak if you like, and in them letting me down, they were controlling me. Once I realised this was the issue, it helped me deal with it.

I also discovered that if you expect too much out of another, expect to get disappointed. We are all on our individual journeys and expecting another to change their path for our convenience or trying to stop another’s evolvement is not good for our own.

Allowing yourself to confront your truth is so cathartic and freeing, you will wonder why you allowed yourself to carry such a burden for so long. It also releases energy, wasted in our quest for secrecy.

Once you start on the truth, in being truthful to yourself, you have also got to be truthful with others… now this is a tricky one. I don’t mean carelessly dishing out your opinion to anyone who will listen. Truth can get confused with opinions and many opinions come from our ego and not from true-self. Another challenge is discerning the two.

An opinion is transient and is something we use to help us navigate and make sense of our current, life situations. I don’t know about you but my opinions have changed constantly over the years, which I believe is healthy. ‘Limited beliefs offer a limited life!’ To have the same ideas all through your life is simply suffocating. As you grow your ideas and opinions should, hopefully, grow too. Identifying too much with your views and not allowing them to change will stop your soul growth and probably keep you doing the same routine, day in day out… my idea of hell, but then, that is just my opinion!

When I suggested to my sister, that we should strive for the truth, in order to free ourselves, she disagreed, her response was to say, “No, the truth hurts!” She then went on to relay a story that happened to her when she was younger:

My sister and her boyfriend had decided to go out for the evening. At the time, she was a young mum and did not get out very often. She applied make-up put on a new dress and feeling good, she went in to see her boyfriend’s sisters to get their approval. On seeing my sister they immediately laughed at her for wearing make-up and told her she looked stupid, which automatically made her feel ugly and worthless. The sisters apparently prided themselves on saying it as it was, they said they didn’t lie. And this was my sister’s reason for the truth not being the best option, which would be a viable one if everyone involved had told the truth.

My sister is and was very pretty and, although she didn’t use it often, could easily enhance her beauty with the application of make-up. And even though I did not see her the evening in question, I know she would have looked beautiful. The real reason her boyfriend’s sisters were laughing at her was not because she looked stupid or ugly, but because they were threatened by her beauty. Instead of them being honest and admitting she looked pretty, they wanted to make her feel the insecurity they felt. It made them feel better by putting her down. What they portrayed as their honesty was an insecurity hidden as ‘their truth’. It’s the nature of the beast.

You have probably heard at least one person (if not yourself) declare, “I say it like it is!” or, “Take me as I am!” To me, these statements are the biggest give away lines to a person’s vulnerability. It is a defence mechanism, in that, if you can fool others into believing that you don’t give a damn, it will protect you from getting hurt. Or by offering hurtful un-truths it will gain you respect for being fearless. It may have others fooled, but it will not serve you in any way. Lies only serve in weakening us.

Now, let’s get down to the business of lying. Did you know that when you tell a lie, even a white one, that you are being manipulative…? Probably not, but the truth is when you tell a lie, such as to a friend saying, “Sorry I didn’t make it last night I had food poisoning.” When it was really, “I didn’t make it last night because I could not be bothered coming out.” You are being manipulative. You don’t want your friend to think badly of you, or perhaps berate you, for letting him/her down. However, it might be in your ‘opinion’ that you are actually being considerate because you don’t want to hurt their feelings. The reality is you are protecting yourself. In not wanting to be the ‘bad guy’, you manipulate the truth and convince yourself you are doing it to protect another.

If you have made plans (contracts) with a friend and decide you cannot keep them for whatever reason, be honest and tell the truth. If you cannot tell them the real reason, then maybe you should reconsider your decision to let them down. In your quest to be honest, try to take into consideration another’s feelings.

Lying will always have repercussions. We never get away with anything in life (even though many of us believe we do). If you lie to others prepare for it to be returned. Most people will lie to gain respect or have someone think more highly of them. A quote that relates to this is:

It is better to be disliked for the person you really are than to be loved for being someone you are not!’

This rings true on so many levels. I’m sure you can think of someone who has gained love or respect from pretence, or offering untruths out to the world. The wheel of karma is spinning faster and the world of deceit is nearly at an end, we are seeing many untruths revealed daily, within our everyday lives, in the media and the courtrooms…

A life lived without the truth is an unfulfilled life!’

So what benefits do you get from telling your truth, living your truth and being your truth…?  Emotional freedom from a life you did not realise was a prison (we cannot be free when bound by lies). When you live your truth, it is as though a huge weight has lifted, you feel cleaner and free. You start to see life in a different light, as the truths of the world are revealed. But most importantly the truth of who you truly are begins to unveil. You will see that you are none of those fears and insecurities, you once carried… You are a beautiful ‘free’ being who’s now about to embark on whole new episode of life in truth!
