The Daily Reset: Important for all Empaths!

If you are an Empath this post is important for you to read, especially if you answer yes to the following…

Are you struggling to stay focused? Do you feel enraged by the injustices going on around you? Does it feel like you are forgetting who you are or losing your mind?

If you answered yes to any of those questions you are not alone. Many Empaths are experiencing a strong sense of confusion and separation from their true-self.

Why?

Because of the triggering chaos energy that is all around us. The media is stirring up so much hate and uncertainty that it is felt by everyone, but it is particularly troubling for the Empaths. This energy is so potent it is difficult to keep it out of our heads and it becomes easy to forget ourselves.

You may worry that you are losing your mind, you can have a fuzzy brain, you might experience waves of anger or sadness, you could feel helpless or hopeless. It’s almost as if the mind has been hijacked and whilst we stay connected to the media, in all its shapes and forms, we will continue to struggle with these issues. However, I do realise avoiding all media outlets is near impossible for many and therefore it is so important to do a daily reset…

Those who control the media want to control people’s minds. When something controls your mind it also controls your thoughts and your energy. Bad news on all levels! Social media’s very nature is designed to be addictive, to draw you in and keep you going back for more. It has the power to activate your dopamine levels and, because of this, your body and brain wants to go back for another hit. You might think you are choosing to peruse online media outlets, but it is actually a reaction in your brain that is making the choice for you.

The fear mongering, used by the mainstream media, is often a tactic used to keep people controlled, distracted and divided. There is rarely any information shared that is uplifting, inspiring or ‘feel good’. By keeping everyone preoccupied by negative political opinions, global disasters, wars, etc. it keeps everyone in a low vibrating space.  These types of stories create anger and fear. All of which builds negative energy and conflict!

When conflicts arise, both in the media and out on the streets, a blanket of massively contagious, dark energy is produced. Which when at it’s worse is difficult to avoid, no matter how much you work on staying grounded and protected. Negativity generates negativity. Negative emotions are contagious and are subliminally taken on even by those who aren’t Sensitive. People then get swept along by the irrational moods being intentionally perpetuated by the media. They breed and feed.  It is a type of gaslighting.

Wikipedia defines gaslighting as a form of psychological manipulation that seeks to sow the seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or group, making them question their own memory, perception and even sanity! By using persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction and lying it attempts to destabilize the victims’ beliefs.

So yes, when the mainstream media is gaslighting it stirs up all kinds of malevolence, which the Empaths take on, often without realising. This dark energy can seep into your conscience without your knowing and can shape your opinions and beliefs. It catches you off guard. And because the populace is continuously fed more reasons to become fearful, infuriated or dissatisfied, and very little to feel positive and cheerful about, low-level energy continues to escalate.

Whether you pay attention to the propaganda stirred up by the media or not, you will still be affected by the emotional energy it produces. At times, the energy of which is so overwhelming, it can seep into your thoughts, even during sleep.

What can we do?

We must work hard to stay unplugged and in balance, otherwise we will get swept along with all the hysteria. By doing a daily reset of mind, body and spirit it will help keep us vibrating in our higher energy and keep us protected. Here’s some ways to do that:

Daily Reset for Empaths

1. Get out in nature daily: Walk in woodlands or by the sea for at least 30 minutes a day. If you live in a city go to the park and stay near the trees (see this post to learn why it is so beneficial). If you live in a desert or have no access to sea air or dense greenery, the next best thing is a salt bath.

2. Meditate: Meditating is essential. Every day, we need to quieten the mind and clear it through meditation. Even if you do it for only 3 minutes it is more beneficial than not doing it at all. Use breathing exercises to calm your mind, then follow it with a mini meditation. A good one to use is focusing on your third eye (centre of forehead) and see it as a blank screen whilst listening to your breath. Learn the benefits of meditation for an Empath  here.

3. Exercise: When you exercise your body releases endorphins which make you feel good. It not only keeps you physically fit but also works all the systems in your body and keeps you happier.

4. Avoid eating rubbish food: This isn’t so much as being part of a reset but more a way of being. Essential nevertheless. When you eat rubbish, you feel more rubbish and end up eating more rubbish. It’s a vicious cycle. Keep your food fresh and unprocessed. If you want to learn more about how certain foods impact your Empath life see here.

5. Watch/read uplifting or spiritual material: We need to keep reminding ourselves of who we are and our true beliefs, otherwise we will be swamped by the fear-mongering opinions and hate that is spewed out by the media. If you spend a lot of time on your laptop keep a link to an inspirational website or YouTube videos. Also try to limit your time on the internet. I know it is difficult, especially if you use the internet for work or if it is your way with connecting with others, but the longer you stay connected, the worse you will feel.

6. Tax your mind: Do crossword puzzles, Sudoku, learn poetry or a language, even for just ten minutes a day. Anything that keeps your mind positively stimulated and distracted from the gaslighting will help keep your brain empowered. It also helps in preventing your thoughts from going over to the dark side.

7. Drink lots of water: Drinking lots of water is so simple to do, but many of us forget. Not only is water an elixir of youth, but it is incredible for keeping you grounded and ensuring your body and mind stays in perfect working order. This post explains just how amazing water is.

Here is a short extract explaining how the Empath’s weakened aura (energy-field) can impair their quality of life:

The Empath Aura

Your aura emanates around you like a luminous egg-shaped sheath. It extends around and away from the body for anything up to five feet (in a healthy person). The vibration of this energetic frame is fine and subtle.

Those who are unhealthy, in their body and mind, have an unhealthy, receded aura which is also permeable (energy leaks out and in).

Our aura both surrounds and penetrates our body and resonates with both our physical and mental bodies. Years’ worth of data is stored within our energy-field; this information is normally an accumulation of happy and sad experiences, ideas and opinions, unreleased painful emotions, negative thought-forms, past life memories and toxins, etc. Because Empaths pick up energy from others, we can also carry inside our aura their negative thought-forms and energy.

A weakened body and mind weakens our aura. Low-level thoughts and emotions, unbalanced chakras, food intolerances, poor diet, drugs and alcohol all impair the body, and anything that debilitates the body damages our aura.

When the aura is damaged, it becomes leaky. This is bad news on many levels: it allows our energy out (causing fatigue and other imbalances), and admits other people’s energy in, which then merges with our own.

Empaths are known to have a permeable aura, and this is why people’s energy can be so debilitating. But they are not the only ones. Anyone who is unhealthy or with emotional issues possess a weakened energy-field, which means their energy and emotions are also able to leak out.

If an Empath comes into close proximity with those who have a leaky aura, they will soak up anything leaked like a super-absorbent sponge. It may appear that strangers’ energy purposely infringes our own, but it is often an energetic merger.

If you are unhealthy, eat an unsuitable diet, take drugs or stimulants, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, experience stress and have dark thoughts you will likely have a permeable aura. This means you pick the emotions and energy off others which then becomes etched within your energy-field. You are also affected by negative residual energy and other low frequency vibrations. The only way to heal the aura is by making some changes.

Experiencing overwhelm, after picking up a stranger’s emotional energy, often means the memory of it gets imprinted. Any future interactions, with unfamiliar energy, may cause something like an “energetic allergic reaction”. These reactions are draining and can leave us feeling well below par for hours or even days. If these responses become a common occurrence, following time spent in public places, it prevents us from fully participating in our own life. This is seen by avoidance of peopled areas and anything that involves social interaction.

By finding total balance of mind, body and spirit, it works something like an “energetic anti-histamine” for the Empath. A healthy body and mind results in a powerful aura and creates the Empath’s invisible armour.

A formidable aura empowers the Empath. It persuades other people’s energy to bounce off and is key to living a happier life.

We cannot expect our mind and spirit to be strong when we are putting something into the body that weakens it. Nor can we expect our body to be strong if we experience “Sensitivity stress”.

Sensitivity Stress

Empaths are Sensitive. Anyone who is Sensitive will experience overwhelming emotions, vivid thoughts, and they get hurt more easily than most. This can lead to Sensitivity stress which compromises the immune system… and eventually results in a damaged aura.

Sensitivity stress is endured by those who experience other people’s emotional pain and energy as an adverse reaction (feeling drained, experiencing negative emotion or becoming unwell), they also overreact to any emotional situation and are prone to having anxiety or panic attacks.

This type of stress is not caused by having deadlines to work to and a mammoth to-do-list (although they certainly won’t help), it is caused by having a Sensitive nature, being overly stimulated from external energy and/or having buried emotional pain. Just like normal stress, it damages the immune system and puts strain on the mind and body. This in turn leads to illness, rampant negative thoughts, and a weakened aura…

So there you go a sneaky peak at what The Empath Awakening is about.

Transform Your Empath Life With This One Thing

Meditation is one of the most powerful tools an Empath can use for their personal growth.  It strengthens the mind, body and spirit and builds a powerful shield of protection against the energy of others. But that’s not all…

Meditation also opens up the Empath’s intuition like nothing else.

Strong intuition requires clean thinking. And this is where meditation comes in. When you have clarity of thought and a lucid mind, magical things happen.

Not only does meditation build intuition it also reprogrammes the brain into being able to better deal with negativity. This enables you to deal with the onslaught of thoughts, energy and emotions picked up from others.

Negative energy picked up from others can activate negative thoughts in your mind. Negative thoughts creates stress within the body which is destructive to health and wellbeing.

Empaths spend a lot of time in their heads. Which is great when thoughts are creative, happy or enlightening. But spend too much time around certain people or in certain places, where the energy is low-level, and painful memories, anger or ideas of being wronged can be triggered.

This is why some type of meditation is crucial for the Empath to a) help you recognise when thoughts, you are experiencing, have been triggered by external energy, b) switch off from them, and c) develop the ability to stay grounded and detached.

Some Empaths find meditation difficult to get into because of their creative and over-active minds. But the more busy or chaotic your thoughts, the more you need to still them (also, the more we resist something the more we tend to need it).

An overly cluttered, thought-filled mind will do nothing to help you grow or develop your Empath abilities. Thoughts are addictive and the darker ones can lower your mood faster than anything… When the mind is reset, through meditation, you can switch off or disengage from destructive thoughts much easier.

Perseverance is all that is needed.

Starting with a five-minute practice and then building up will reap incredible benefits.

If your thoughts are keeping you up at night and creating unnecessary worry it is probably a good time to start a practise. Regular meditation helps you detach from thoughts, fact!

Transformation may not happen over night, but it does not take long for you to see how a regular meditation practice is totally transformative and a fast-tracked way to developing greater intuition.

To see what amazing transformations are to be had by practicing meditation, set yourself a four-week challenge and allot an amount of time each day to practice.

I find mornings are easiest. Get up ten to twenty minutes earlier and start with five minutes meditation then gradually build up.

If you are on a time limit set a gentle alarm. It is amazing how quickly time will go once you are enveloped in your private mind sanctuary.

(The only time mediation is not recommended is if you are suffering deep depression. A moving meditation, such as Ashtanga yoga, may be more beneficial.

I find the best way to meditate is with an erect spine, either sitting in a straight-backed chair or in a comfy cross-legged or kneeling position on the floor. Keeping the spine straight and upright allows the energy to flow up and down and the breath to be calm.

There are some who will say lying down is a perfectly acceptable way to meditate, which it is, but it is too easy to fall asleep when lying down and the opportunity to consciously quieten the mind is lost. Just make sure you feel comfortable before you start.

If you find meditation difficult it may be a good idea to try a guided meditation. There are hundreds to choose from on YouTube. I have included a couple, just to get you started (using earphones is beneficial with the guided mediations).

Before you start any guided meditation make sure you are compatible with the narrator’s voice. If you do not find the voice soothing then you may get irritated by it during the meditation, which is a distraction. Oh, and make sure you won’t be disturbed.

Trinity Healing for The Empath

Anyone who has read many of my posts is probably aware that I am very much an advocate of taking responsibility for self-healing.

When it comes to realigning mind, body and spirit, I believe  we are the ones who must do it for ourselves and we should not hand our power over to others (in most cases). It is after all our unique journey. We learn most in life by that which we overcome.

I wasn’t always of this mind. When I was younger, I hoped others would or could do it for me. I thought the best option was the easy option… I learnt the hard way on that one.

It was over 20 years ago when I started looking for answers to mysteries of life. And in that time I have made many discoveries. Especially in regard to Empath life!

It took me a while to see it, but the journey of an Empath, and its many ups and downs, is a brilliant and amazing fast-paced rollercoaster ride and a true blessing. If it were an easy, comfortable trip we would never get to overcome the many obstacles we do. And, in turn, accomplish and learn so much.

We climb mountains, float on clouds and stumble into darkness, sometimes all in one day, and it is these experiences that make the Empath journey so worthwhile.

I have by no means got the answers to life’s mysteries, nor would I yet want to have. We have to leave something to learn on life’s path. However, the most important detail I have realized to date is: we will never find true health, peace or happiness as an Empath until we heal the trinity of mind, body and spirit.

Mind = thoughts, ego and emotions
Body =  physical vessel
Spirit = the energetic body and higher self or soul

We come as a trinity package and when it comes to healing we generally have to work on all three.

The longer body is out of alignment the worst damage it will cause to the Empath trinity.

Some of the worst damage caused to the mind, body and spirit is from the consumption of an unsuitable diet.

It does not matter if your body is toned and athletic or whether you have a regular spiritual or meditative practise. If your diet is unsuitable it not only weakens your body but also causes leaky aura (seriously bad news for the Empath )and has a harmful effect on your mind (also bad news for an Empath).

I had no idea that what we put in our mouths could have such a harmful effect on our all round physical and mental health, as an Empath, until I changed my diet.

My transformation began when I gave up wheat [see post here ]. Once my mind was clear of the drug-like and mind-numbing effects of wheat, tuning into my body’s needs became easier and easier.

After wheat elimination came the removal of refined sugar and again, I could not believe the change. Happiness became a staple.

I now realize that within the medical establishment, holistic and new-age arena, they and we are being misled and misinformed. The cause of most problems in both body and mind is what we feed ourselves. The low-fat, high grain/sugar diet we have been consuming these past thirty years has turned many into sleep walkers. This way of being stops us from reaching any type of enlightened state.

Wheat and refined sugars strip the body of essential nutrients and enzymes. An imbalance of just one nutrient or enzyme, in the body, causes untold misery in the mind. Deficiency is destructive.  I would not have believed this had I not witnessed such a transformation within myself by eliminating the foods that deplete nutrients [see post here on supplements for Empaths].

Without enzymes we would cease to exist. They keep us alive, nourish our bodies and keep our mind healthy. As we age our enzyme production decreases. This, coupled with a bad diet, puts us on a fast-tracked-path to mental and physical illness. This is why it is so important to keep our enzyme consumption high and eliminate foods that strip them.

Giving up much loved foods is not easy, I know, but once out of the system you do not miss them and you will not believe just how amazing you can feel. Your Empath life will turn around!

For those of you who have suffered a lifelong battle with ailments, allergies, fatigue, illness or depression, you will be amazed just how well you can feel. In fact, just by eliminating wheat alone will get a new lease of life.

Modern diets and lifestyles have taken too many Empaths and Sensitives down. Putting them out of action without them realizing their diet is preventing them from becoming who are they are meant to be.

You may already consider yourself to have a ‘healthy diet‘, but if you don’t feel amazing as an Empath, something is off.

If you want to see BIG changes in your life, change your diet!

If you have worked on yourself mentally, spiritually and physically and still suffer bouts of  Empath fatigue, overwhelm, depression or many physical ailments it is time to address what you eat…

The time has come for you to really start living, not just existing, and get doing what you came here to do. There is nothing to lose but everything to gain…

21 DAY MEDITATION CHALLENGE FROM THE CHOPRA CENTRE

If you have never meditated and would like to try, then here’s your chance. The Chopra centre is offering a free 21 day meditating challenge. This is an excellent way to commit 21 days of your life to see how meditating could change you and your life.

The hardest part of meditating can be simply setting a time aside for it. So, find a time that suits you best, perhaps first thing in the morning or just before bed. Find a quiet, comfortable space in your home, where it’s not too hot or cold and before you start make sure there will be no unwanted distractions, such as a phone ringing, a child asking for you, a rumbling stomach from hunger, or likewise, an overly full, digesting tummy. Others will say different, but I find it best to meditate sat up, with the spine erect (a slumped chest affects the breathing), when lying down it is too easy to fall asleep and although sleep is very beneficial, we’re trying to still and quieten our mind and it can take some effort to do. The mind is like a monkey and when you try to still it it will start to jump from one thought to the next trying to distract you. With patience and persistence you will eventually get to train and quieten the monkey but if you fall asleep before you have had chance then you will miss that opportunity.

The challenge begins on Monday, July 16, 2012.
