Whose Emotion Are You In? A Guide For Empaths

Is this your emotion you are feeling? Or does it belong to someone else?

Learning to differentiate between ‘whose emotion belongs to whom’ certainly proves to be a challenge for many Empaths.

Not recognizing other people’s energy, within oneself, is a common theme within the Empath world. Just knowing you take on the emotions from others, does not mean you can automatically discern them from your own or are able to prevent them from affecting you.

When you pick up heavy emotional energy you can feel it in a number of ways: Good emotions rarely cause problems. But if what you pick up is negative, you may interpret it as the emotion you least enjoy or that which is related to an unresolved issue. It is also common for foreign energy to stoke up anger or irritation, even if the other is not themselves experiencing this emotion.

Because there are so many people who carry stress and hidden pain, it can be difficult for the Empath to avoid when out in public places. And if you have a lot of buried pain, it will make the experience, of picking up someone else’s, so much worse.

The reason for this is, the brain tries to rationalize what the body is feeling and will try to categorize the feelings you take on. If the emotions, you pick up in another, are something similar to what you have experienced from a past experience, the mind will trigger that memory. Which often means you get caught up in painful memories, totally unaware it was triggered by someone else’s energy.

Also, if you are one who dislikes people in your “personal bubble” you will not welcome their emotional energy either and this itself can stoke up dark feelings. Others’ energy suddenly showing up, uninvited, in your energy field can feel invasive and claustrophobic. The energy you pick up does not have to be negative to stir up negativity; being unsolicited is enough to ignite unpleasant feelings. (This post may help you when out in public.)

So how can you tell when an emotion does not belong to you? The easiest and quickest way to make this determination is to speak to the emotions directly:

When you initially sense any type of overpowering emotion say to yourself: if these emotions are not mine, leave me now!

If the feelings do not belong to you, they will promptly start to lose their grip. You will experience a definite shift in the way you feel. It may be subtle but you will feel a change. When you notice this subsidence distract yourself, immediately.

Why?

Because negative emotions are powerful. If you don’t take your focus off them they will return. Unpleasant emotions engage unpleasant repetitive thoughts and once your thoughts get wrapped up in the emotions, belonging to others, there is no getting away from them.

Here’s a quick check list to help determine whose emotion you are in:

  • Were you feeling happy then within seconds of being in the company of another you felt sad, anxious or angry?
  • Do you suddenly find yourself caught up in feelings that are triggering long-forgotten memories?
  • Did your mind suddenly become scrambled and your thoughts become foggy?
  • Are you suddenly feeling uninspired or lethargic?
  • Do you feel like you are experiencing psychic attack?
  • Are you experiencing waves of bitterness, anger or irritability (when you don’t normally carry those traits)?
  • Does the area around your solar plexus feel fluttery, heavy or uncomfortable?
  • Are you feeling fearful with no real reason?

If you answer yes to any of the above it could be an indicator that you are experiencing someone else’s energy and emotions.

The Fear Belonging to Others

It is important to recognize if a fear belongs to you. Just like picking up emotions, the Empath can pick up other people’s irrational fears and take them on as their own. Feeling fear is not always a bad thing, it is often a protecting force, but if it belongs to another it may unnecessarily hold you back in life.

Fear is a powerfully controlling emotion. Because it is so potent, it can be debilitating. Even when it belongs to another.

Fear belonging to someone else, feels much the same as your own. If in doubt to whom the fear belongs, use the same technique as above and make the following statement: If this fear is not mine, leave me now! Say it out loud or in your head. If it is not yours, the fear will start to shift.

Another quick way to discern between your fear (or other type of emotion) and another’s, is to check if you had it before being in their company. For example: You may be going on holiday with a friend who has a secret fear of flying. You are super-excited about the trip, that is until you sit next to your friend on the plane. She hates flying and is terrified but is trying hard not show it. When seated, you suddenly experience a wave of panic wash over you. You don’t question if it’s anyone else’s fear because it seems so real. And, because your friend has not expressed to you, her fear of flying, you don’t suspect it is coming from her. You now think of nothing else but this prevailing wave of fear that is stirring up floods of panic within. It wipes away the joy and excitement, you previously felt, as you become traumatized by the panic. You then may convince yourself you are scared of flying.

You do not have to be connected to a person to feel, and take on, their fear. All it takes is for you to be connected to their energy. If you didn’t have fear about a situation, or event, before being in the company of another, you have to consider that the fear may not belong to you.

Fear creates negative emotions: Negative emotions create lasting memories. If someone or something caused an intense fear, every time you are with them, or in a similar situation, the memory of the emotion will be reignited. This is why it is important to distinguish whose emotion you are in.

The above is a snippet from the book 7 Secrets of the Sensitive.

Hope this helps on your journey.

Until next time,

Diane

Are You an Introvert Empath?

Many Empaths identify with being an introvert, for the reason that introversion tends to go hand-in-hand with an Empath’s journey. Even if you started life exhibiting more extrovert ways, the way the world makes you ‘feel’ can trigger or build introvert leanings, such as: a regular need for solitude, not enjoying spending time around people, experiencing social aggravation when around crowds, etc.

Did you know that nearly 75% of the world are extroverts? So, if you consider yourself to be  an introvert Empath you are a minority and that is something to be celebrated. But even if you consider yourself to be extrovert, you may also carry many introvert tendencies.

Sadly, many Empaths, or those who sit in between the spectrum of introvert and extrovert as an ambivert, often feel that their introvert ways can hold them back in life.

Generally speaking, most Empaths go through a stage of excessive introversion at some point in their life, especially around times of awakening, spiritual development or major life transitions (extreme introversion can also be a sign of major imbalance or even nutrition deficiency please see this post for more information), it tends to be part of their path of evolvement. Introvert ways also become more apparent with age.

Having introvert traits, in this extrovert-driven world, often brings challenges and hurdles to overcome. So much so, it can leave many Empaths feeling out of place, as though they’ve been dumped into a reality where the rules have been written for everyone else. It’s a world where fitting in with social expectations often means living a lie.

There is so much pressure to exhibit extrovert ways, both in the workplace and in social situations, that many introverts are having to ‘fake it’ in order to ‘fit in’. But, if there’s one thing an Empath dislikes its having to pretend (unless they’re actors up on stage) or act in a way that does not represent their truth. They do not like to conform and they do not like having to live a lie by changing their true behaviour to appease others.

Many introvert Empaths prefer not to be the centre of attention and often dislike networking, small talk and fake friendliness. But as this is an expected way to progress in the modern world it can leave a number of Empaths at odds with themselves.

Some may believe their lack of social skills is down to shyness, but there is a considerable difference between being shy and being introvert.

Although some introverts can be shy, that is not always the reason they do not like excess social interaction. Shyness is born from a fear: a fear of judgement or social rejection and experiencing social anxiety when interacting with others. An introvert can happily engage others in conversation (when not drained or overwhelmed) at social events, they just don’t like having the pressure to do so if it’s not what they want. They prefer to observe a room rather than work it. And as an Empath can become easily overwhelmed by the dichotomy of energies produced by large groups, social engagements can be a thing of dread. 30 Ways to Unleash Your Empath Power!

Sometimes we all need gentle reminders of ways we can help ourselves to live a happier, more empowered life as an Empath.

But it’s also important to remember, we attract who and what we are. To draw more magnificence into your Empath life, it helps to develop a more magnificent way of being.

Here are 30 quick ways of being that can bring about incredible changes to your life, and unleash your hidden power, just by applying them:

1. Let Go of Expectations of Others

Expectations of others can cause untold pain and frustration. Let them go and it will free you from disappointment. You cannot and should not control everything in life. Acceptance is essential if you want to live a happy, healthy life.

2. Release Resentment or Anger

Why let another’s actions blight your life? Resentment makes you bitter. Let it go. Anger only punishes the bearer. Breathe though and release it.

3. Select Relationships With Prudence

As an Empath, you can become who you spend most time with. Choose your friends wisely.

4. Still Chaotic Thoughts

Stress and unhappiness are often born from chaotic Empath musings. By quietening your thoughts it will help free you from any unnecessary pain they cause.

5. Judge Not

Judging makes you fearful of judgements. Choosing not to judge, yourself or others, helps you find emotional freedom.

6. Stop Procrastinating

Don’t put off today what you can do tomorrow. Why waste life thinking about what you could be doing? It’s time to do it! Continue reading

A Guide to Surviving Christmas for the Empath

As I was nosing through some of my old posts, I came across one I posted two Christmases ago (read it here). It made me smile because I remembered how much I disliked the month of December and how bad I always felt when it came to the ‘Silly Season’.

But this year, I have loved every minute of the month. I have loved the cold, damp darkness and wrapping up in warm winter woollies. I have admired the twinkling lights dangling from the trees and houses in the neighbourhood and I have loved socializing and getting together with friends.

Although I still choose not to participate in the ‘material side’ of Christmas, I am now able to enjoy the month without being taken down by the ‘crazy energy’ it produces. And I know this change is due to the fact I continue to work on myself, as an Empath, and I am always finding new ways to overcome the many obstacles life throws us.

However, I know how challenging life can be for the Empath at Christmas. It can be overwhelming, draining and difficult. And, for that reason, I am sharing extracts from the ‘Surviving Christmas‘ post because the techniques still remain beneficial and are good to help one find balance.

Surviving Christmas

Daily Grounding

Most Empaths have a daily grounding ritual, but to stay out of the ‘Christmas stress’ we need to add something extra to it… childlike positivity.

Adopting childlike excitement into your energy can help protect you from the stress energy of others.

We have a choice where our energy and focus goes. Consciously choosing the right focal point is essential to keeping our energy in the right place.

You only have to cast your mind back to childhood to remember how explosively exciting Christmas was. So, instead of tuning into people’s stress energy, focus your awareness on a child’s exhilaration and it will help keep you uplifted and energised.

Carry Haematite or Other Protective Stones

Haematite is both grounding and mirroring, and it will help protect you when in busy, stressed places (basically everywhere over the festive period).

Keeping a piece with you at all times is a good way to shield yourself from unwanted energy. If you want to learn more about the benefits of Haematite for the Empath see this post.

Eat Lots of Bright Coloured Food

Oranges, lemons and limes, red apples, blueberries and bananas, for example, will help keep you protected and healthy over the silly season.

Christmas contributes to bad eating. Party food and alcohol carry little in the way of nutrients, and if we pick up lots of stress energy the immune system will be compromised.

By eating lots of lovely bright coloured foods it ensures you get lots of vitamins and enzymes which wards off colds and builds your resilience towards stress-related illness.

When we eat brightly coloured food, in the form of delicious fruit and veg, we reap many benefits.

Also whether we gaze upon it of consume it, colour raises one’s mood and vibration and that is always going to be super beneficial at this time of year.

Shake it Off

If you get overwhelmed by too much stress energy a brilliant way to get rid of it is by shaking it off.

Start by giving each leg a good shake, shake your bum and your torso, shake your arms and hands, blubber through your lips and wobble your cheeks, run your hands through your hair and give the scalp a good shake (I do not recommend shaking the head as tension is often held in the neck).

Shaking works even better if you can do it in water and/or with some uplifting funky music.

The shaking method also works great if you pick up on any anger energy.

Eat Chocolate

Eating moderate amounts of chocolate is a perfect, and delicious, way for an Empath to ground and recharge.

Many Empaths are naturally drawn to chocolate, their inner-knowing already knows of its benefits. However, not all chocolate is created equal, the darker the chocolate the better and if it is organic, perfect!

Opt for minimum 70% cocoa when choosing your chocolate fix.

Dark chocolate is super healthy as long as it in not loaded with unrefined sugar.

White refined sugar is inflammatory. It causes excess cortisol to be released into the body which then heightens uncomfortable emotions and stress for the Empath (click here to learn more). So try to avoid it.

Practice Gratitude

Christmas can cause overwhelm for an Empath and put them in a negative mindset, but by practising gratitude it can raise the spirits like nothing else.

Being grateful for what you already have in your life will bring in more things to be thankful for. Or, if you don’t feel like you have much to be grateful for, be grateful for the amazing things that are coming your way.

You will be amazed at just how uplifting this is. It also works like chocolate and floods your system with feel good hormones.

Ever Wondered Why You Continue to Suffer as an Empath?

pexels-photo-551588.jpeg

Have you tried all types of grounding or protective techniques, as an Empath, and find nothing works? Or have you found you are more negatively affected when spending time around people than you ever have been?

Have you considered the possibility that you may be suffering with leaky aura syndrome?

Most Empaths come to realize they have a leaky aura when they experience near-constant exhaustion, after spending time around people. The grounding and protection techniques, they try, don’t make any difference to how they feel or experience energy, they become overly sensitive and struggle to enjoy life.

Anyone whose auric field is congested, particularly with negative energy, may eventually develop auric permeability. But it is not just negative energy that can cause leaky aura syndrome: the biggest contributors are excessive stress, emotional pain, poor lifestyle choices, bad people, toxic environments and food.

After a lifetime of being Sensitive, and the challenges that go with it, the Empath’s body becomes less resilient (especially evident after the age of thirty). A weakened body weakens the energy field and is a major contributor to leaky aura syndrome.

The auric field is affected by your thoughts, feelings, actions and words. And because of the law of attraction, depending on the way you think and feel will determine what you draw into your life.

If as an Empath you have leaky aura syndrome, and are unaware of it, you have little control over what you attract. You will struggle to protect yourself from the low-level vibrations in your environment; they seep into your energy field even when you work to stop them. You then vibrate at this same frequency, drawing in more of the same. Continue reading

9 Reasons Why Empaths Should Avoid Negative People

There is no denying it, ‘people stress’ exists. Every one of us has experienced it. And I have no doubt we will have caused people stress to others at some point in our lives.

But there are some who seem to enjoy living under a dark cloud and make an occupation out of unpleasantness; they talk malevolently of people, places and pastimes and suck the joy out of life… These are the negative people of the world

Science has acknowledged that just by spending too much time around those who are constantly disapproving or miserable can have an undesirable influence on one’s health and happiness.

There are many studies showing how prolonged ‘people stress’ alters gene expression within the immune system… Meaning: we can become sick just by hanging out with angry, gloomy or demoralizing people.

Some doctors now even recommend their patients avoid spending time with those who cause them emotional stress; for the fact they could exacerbate health conditions.

It may seem unkind to suggest avoiding negative people, but here are 9 reasons why you should:

1, Low Moods are Triggered by Emotional Contagion:

Emotional contagion is the phenomenon of having one person’s emotions and linked behaviours trigger similar emotions in others. Meaning: Negativity is contagious.

You can experience other people’s low moods just by spending time with them.

2, You Become a Magnet for Negativity:

Ever wondered why after spending time around negative people you draw more negative situations towards you?

Like attracts like.

When you unintentionally harvest other people’s negativity, through emotional contagion, it often becomes your own. Through the law of attraction, you then attract more.

Negativity breeds negativity!

3, You Experience an Energy Drain:

You may have noticed that when you spend time around negative people you feel cloudy, flat and lethargic.

Many negative people are also energy vampires. Their negativity sucks the energy from you, even after a short time spent in their presence. This drain can leave you feeling low, uninspired and weary.

4, Negative People Contribute to Inflammation:

Stress causes inflammation in the body.

Chronic inflammation has been linked to autoimmune disorders, depression, heart disease and even cancer.

By keeping negative people in your life, who cause you stress, you are causing your body more damage than you know.

5, The Adrenal Glands Weaken:

Although every organ is affected by people stress, the adrenals are one of the first to be impacted.

The adrenals are part of the endocrine system and are responsible for releasing the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline.

When the adrenals are functioning properly, cortisol is anti-inflammatory, otherwise it has the opposite effect.

By spending time around negative people it causes excessive stress which activates the fight-or-flight system. This system is supposed to keep you safe from harm, giving you the energy to run away or stay and do battle… but there is no danger just people stress. This happening repeatedly not only weakens the adrenals but inhibits the proper release of cortisol and impairs health.

6, Weight Gain:

If you are Sensitive and spend a lot of time around stress-inducing people, your adrenals become impaired, which – as mentioned above – plays havoc with cortisol production and can lead to weight gain.

As well as being known as the stress hormone, cortisol is also referred to as the fat storing hormone.

The weight gain, caused by excess cortisol production, is often seen around the stomach – and a reason many Empaths have a squidgy, pot belly. This fat is difficult to eliminate because it is not caused by eating too much food and so, reducing food intake has little effect on it.

7, Imbalanced or Blocked Chakras

Chakras are also known as energy centres.

The chakras are directly linked to your endocrine glands (glands that release hormones into the body), and people stress is known to impair the endocrine glands.

When any endocrine gland weakens (adrenals for example), it has a knock-on-effect and leads to unbalanced chakras.

Blocked or unbalanced chakras cause many health problems and can also lead to leaky aura syndrome (a problem many Empaths struggle with).

8, Weakened Energy Field:

Also known as the aura or pranic sheath, your energy field emanates around you like a luminous egg-shaped sheath.

The energy field has been defined as a haze or ‘metamolecular space’ that surrounds every living thing.

A healthy energy field keeps good energy in and bad energy out. A weak energy field, however, is porous and leaky – also known as leaky aura syndrome – and allows in too much energy from others.

If you become overly stressed or anxious, when around negative people, you are more at risk of developing a permeable aura. This can cause many unnecessary difficulties in life.

A weakened aura is bad news on many levels for the Empath (see this post to learn more) and by staying away from negative people it will help keep your energy field healthy.

9, Unhappiness and Depression:

It is difficult to stay upbeat when around anyone who drags you down emotionally.

Sensitive people are prone to low moods and depression and for this – and all the above reasons – the best way to stay happy is by avoiding nasty or unpleasant people.

If you experience guilt at the prospect of avoiding certain negative people, remind yourself you are looking after your health and wellbeing… You deserve to be happy and healthy!

Remedies

Because complete avoidance of negative people is near impossible, I have included 3 quick recovery remedies that aid relaxation and help switch on the parasympathetic nervous system (system responsible for bringing calm and balance to the body).

Take a Salted, Magnesium, Essential Oil Bath:

This is an incredible combination for instilling calm and overall balance. Salt clears negative energy, it also heals and softens the skin.

Magnesium helps one relax, and boosts energy, supports the endocrine system and aids sleep (quality sleep is essential for repairs).

Choosing an essential oil, such as lavender, further supports deep relaxation.

Still the Mind and Calm the Breath:

When stressed or anxious the breathing becomes erratic and thoughts go into overdrive, this only serves in heightening stress and weakens the body.

To quieten the mind, sit comfortably in a darkened room, with incense or your favourite essential oil burning, and practice alternate nostril breathing. This breathing technique brings instant serenity and quietens a chaotic mind.

Get Outdoors:

An effortless way to restore balance is by simply stepping out in nature (read more here), or by using a technique called Earthing (read more here).

Hope this helps on your journey.

Until next time

The Power that Nature has to Heal the Empath

As an Empath, you will already be aware there is nothing more healing to the body, mind and spirit than being in Nature.

A stroll through a beautiful woodland, over a grassy meadow or near a natural-flowing stream is not only uplifting but it is also grounding.

It is not by chance Empaths love being outdoors. Their inner Knowing guides them towards the Earth’s natural healing power to harness its power.

Spending time in Nature is uplifting for all humans, but to the Empath it activates a special kind of magic. It removes impurities from the energy field and quietens a busy, stressed mind.

Even sitting in your garden listening to the birds sing, whilst eyeing over the vegetation has a clearing and calming influence.

The Crossroads of Change: Unplugging from The Hysteria

You would have to live very deep underground to not have noticed the crazy happenings in society. Almost everyone has been affected, in some way, by the engulfing mass hysteria that has swept the world. It is easy to believe that most of it is politically fuelled but; it is my belief, the real reason goes much deeper than that.crossroads2

The world is not a happy place. The masses are angry and afraid. Either because there are changes afoot they do not agree with or they are scared to speak out about their true beliefs for the fear of being labelled as racist, sexist, stupid, a conspiracy theorist or not politically correct.

Dogmatism and cognitive dissonance is rife. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought and individuality are being supressed. And the energy of hate is skyrocketing. It certainly feels like all humans are being manipulated to turn on each other. This is not a recent thing it has been building for a while and affecting Empaths on many levels.

2016 was one of the most energetically chaotic years I can remember. Not so much from a personal perspective, but within the populace. There was so much shifting going on that no one could hide from the turbulently vexed energy being pumped out. I don’t know of anyone who did not face some type of challenge, pain or frustration during 2016 (even if it was just political frustrations). Empaths, the world over, were drawn into this tumultuous vibrational energy, if even indirectly, without realizing. Even those who considered themselves to be in a good vibrational space, were affected.

For me, I look back on 2016 and see it as a huge transitional year. A time of growth and empowerment. But it was not an easy year to live through and, it would seem, 2017 has started much the same.

We reside in a world going through the quickening of change. These changes are causing trauma, chaos, emotional pain, depression and more. Although trauma and upheaval may be considered as emotionally damaging, it actually leads to growth and spiritual awareness… if we allow it. Trauma is the first step we take across the tempestuous waters of awakening. Pain is a prelude to birth.

For some, the initial stages of awakening are seen in random behaviours. Two of these being: denial and blame. In the past couple of years, you will have seen this behaviour everywhere. People pointing the finger of blame and convincing themselves their problems lie in the hands of another. Most are so busy avoiding themselves, and instead lashing out at others, that they are miss a unique opportunity for transformation.

Suffering is part of the ‘wake-up call’. People far and wide are hearing the sirens of the awakening, and call to change, but it is their choice how the transition goes. The words of Tony Robbins spring to mind:

‘Change is inevitable. Evolution, however, is a choice

We can choose to wake-up, evolve and grow or we can choose to stay in denial. Denial is the comfortable, normally, safe passage. At least for a while. However, we can’t ignore evolution forever. If we try things will eventually become so bad that we are forced to change.

All humans are presently being fed fuel to stoke up raging emotions, such as anger, bitterness and hate. If we engage them, these types of emotions keep us trapped in mental conflict and away from finding peace and harmony.

Evil begets evil. Hate breeds hate. Anger feeds anger. Fear fuels fear. The more of this type of energy people put out into the world the more it grows.

We all have light and darkness within; both love and hate. Whichever we choose to give the most attention to will be the force that guides our feelings, thoughts and choices. Choose wisely. We are the creators of our own reality.

Strange Things Afoot

It is clear there are some seriously strange things happening in the world. (If you’ve read anything about the Mandela Effect or the flat Earth theory, you’ll know what I mean). There is a lot of positive change happening and many truths are being revealed. But we are also being distracted to prevent us from discovering our own power. Distraction is a powerful tool. When our mind is preoccupied with all the wrongs in the world, we don’t see what is right. And we don’t notice the powerful positive and uplifting energy that is all around us.

We are at the crossroads of change. Being a crossroads means we have a choice of which direction to take. We can choose the path of denial and despair or the one of love and gratitude. That choice is often determined by where we place our focus.

You would think it’s a no brainer for us to choose the positive, love energy. But the more people who focus and send out the hate/fear energy the more this builds and the harder it is not to become embroiled in. For anyone Sensitive, this low-level energy, that has swept the globe, is agonizing to experience. But it can also be perversely alluring; drawing us in without our realizing.

I too have been lured into engaging the distressing and emotionally provoking news, designed to distract, divide and enrage. And yes, I get wound up by it all. I keep having to remind myself to unplug and stay switched off from it. No good comes from occupying the mind with such negatively charged news.

Some might argue that we have a duty to stay informed, we should fight for our rights and silence is consent. And as much as I may agree with that, most of what we are being fed is shameful propaganda, which does nothing but feed our darkest emotions and pains the soul.

When we focus on the incredible force of gratitude and love it is a game changer. You see more and more positive come into your life. This amazing energy is all around us, we just need to take our eyes off the distractions and diversions to realize it.

By not giving our attention to anything which feeds negative emotions, we can free ourselves and then take our focus to the more positive. Choosing to stay unplugged is the best form of protection at this time. Especially if you are badly affected by all the hysterical energy.

Here are some excellent ways to stay unplugged:

  • Stay away from the media: Online news, social media and televised news reports can lure you into negative thinking, frustration and anger.
  • Avoid politics: Don’t get involved in dogmatic discussions and avoid those who seem to thrive when politically venting.
  • Steer clear of large groups of people or protests: Mass hysteria is contagious and drags everyone in, even those with the best intentions.
  • Pursue your passions: Do what you love and be creative as often as you can (your own form of distraction).
  • Express gratitude every day throughout the day: Be grateful for anything you can. A delicious meal, a good book, film or just the traffic lights being on green. Keep pumping this positive energy out.
  • Keep control of the mind: Meditate or perform moving meditations like yoga, Thai-chi or dance.
  • Get outdoors: Spend as much time in nature as possible and bask some natural sunlight.

Pain serves us in mysterious ways. We eventually come to a point when we understand why we endured all we have, and we recognize how our pain shaped and changed us for the better. But we don’t need to keep experiencing it over and over. We have a choice. Now is the time to start shaping your new reality by unplugging from the old.

Until next time.

Earthing: Easy Grounding for the Empath

Staying grounded is essential to keeping an Empath… well… grounded. I was reminded of the incredible benefits grounding has on keeping us balanced and happy, after enjoying a two-week break in the Caribbean. At the start of the holiday, I thought the best part would be basking in the sunshine whilst binge-reading books, but there was more…

When I travel, I often let my daily exercise regime slide. But, on this holiday, I was determined to work out every day. On our first morning, my husband and I eagerly turned up at the hotel’s gym for our pre-breakfast work-out. However, we found the gym to be small, stuffy and super-busy, with no floor-space to do stretches or yoga. We spent more time waiting for the machines than we did working-out. But the cramped conditions actually turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise.

The following morning, I suggested we work-out on the beach instead. Being a big fan of the treadmill and weights, my husband wasn’t keen on the idea, but decided to try it because of the busyness of the gym.

We did a mix of exercises whilst wearing training shoes, but when it came to yoga and stretches, it was time to go barefoot. As soon as I kicked off my shoes and grounded my toes into the sand, I felt an incredible calming yet powerful energy surge through me. In an instant, I remembered the familiar tranquillity and pureness that comes with connecting to the Earth. The feeling was also improved by being able to gaze out over the beautiful sea and watch the palm trees swaying idly on the light, salty breeze.
grounding

The Earth’s powerful healing energy, I now realize, is something I take for granted or forget about, especially whilst my feet are swathed in socks and sturdy shoes.

Grounding with the earth is also known as Earthing, and is a quick powerful way to harness the Earth’s power.

Earthing has gone from being a somewhat ‘woo-woo’ New Age trend to being a well-researched practice, with a number of proven health benefits. From the perspective of being an Empath, I have found Earthing has some of the following positive properties:

  • Decreases Empath fatigue
  • Reduces EMF (electrical magnetic frequencies caused by televisions, computers, mobile phones, etc.). EMF disrupts bioelectrical functions, often leaving the Empath wired or energetically open.
  • Helps clear unwanted energy picked up from others.
  • Calms the mind. Its grounding effects helps pull us out of our heads and reduces repetitive thoughts.
  • Charges us with vibrant energy and positive feelings.
  • Contributes to building a more resilient energy field, which helps repel other people’s energy.

The Science Bit

Studies show, the Earth’s negative charge can help stabilize internal bioelectrical functions, which helps prevent disease and also offers pain relief.

We are electrical beings and our bodies produce positive charges, which are harmful in excess. The Earth’s abundant free electrons produce a negative charge which works in being counteractive.

According to scientific theory, when Earthing we absorb an abundance of negatively charged electrons which prove to have an immediate physiological impact. The electrons have the effect of being anti-inflammatory, antioxidative and beneficial to regulating to the body’s circadian rhythms.

An article published in ‘The Journal of Environmental and Public Health’ stated the many benefits of Earthing. Their research showed the following were improved by the act of regular Earthing:

  • Sleep
  • PMS
  • Immune system activity and response
  • Hypertension
  • Chronic muscular and joint pain
  •  Asthma
  • Energy levels
  •  Stress
  •  Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis

Researchers believe that most health benefits are derived from Earthing’s anti-inflammatory effect. By the premise that wherever there is illness there is also inflammation. Reducing inflammation will also reduce disease.

As long as we have a skin on earth connection, by walking, standing, sitting or lying on the ground (grass, earth or beach), it reconnects us with the Earth’s powerful energy. Easy to do in the summer, not so much in the cold and wet winter months.

If you find Earthing beneficial but cannot get outdoors during the winter, a grounding pad, which harnesses the benefits of Earth’s electrons, can be used.

If nothing else, Earthing will make you feel alive and refreshed and is great for staying ‘grounded’.

Until next time.

Diane.

The End of the World as We Know It?

Although I have dislike of watching strong violence on the TV, I do have a penchant for zombie and end of world catastrophe movies. One of my favourites being ‘World War Z’. It only recently dawned on me that these zombie films are almost like a metaphor for the world we live in today.

zombie-creative-commons

In a typical zombie film, a plague or virus wipes out the human host. It may look like the body is alive, but it is just going through the motions, whilst under the control of a parasitical hive-minded predator. The zombie is unable to show empathy, think for itself or express any emotion, other than rage, and all it seemingly can do is attack those not akin to it. Hmmm, sound familiar?

We are surrounded by what seems like many non-thinking sleepwalkers who are just going through the motions of life but aren’t really taking part in it. They follow the protocol of: consume, reproduce, sleep and obey (If you’ve ever seen the film ‘They Live’ you’ll know where I’m coming from) and don’t seem able to see, never mind question, the wrongdoings currently happening in the world.

Our reality has shifted, and the world is becoming more divided. We are seeing evidence of this everywhere we look. The polarities are so tangible now and it truly seems like there is a war between light and dark being played out. We are in the midst of some challenging, earth shifting times, that are affecting everyone in some way or other. The Empaths are feeling these changes in a pungently unpleasant way.

People are being played off against one another. With their minds distracted and preoccupied, it has kept them from waking up to the truth of themselves and the world. This is causing friction and frustration. There are a lot of unhappy folks out there, looking for ways to express their pain. They don’t know why they are feeling the way they are, they just want somewhere to offload their aggravations, and guess who frequently gets in the firing line…? yes, the Empaths and Sensitive.

The Empath Awakening

Kindle Version Empath AwakeningWell, here I am with the news of another book release: The Empath Awakening.

The book, which could be classed as a prequel to 7 Secrets of the Sensitive, is about what to expect during the transition time of an ‘Empath Awakening’.

I cover subjects such as: friendships and family, toxic relationships, how the mind, body and spirit are impacted by Empath imbalances and how to overcome them, traits that become out of balance, how a permeable aura allows other people’s emotional energy to take you down, and much more.

Because I know many of you have already purchased one of my books, I am offering it for free for five days on Kindle Select. The free offer will run from tomorrow (Wed 17th Aug) to Sunday (21st Aug).

If you want to have a quick look at the book, to get an idea of what its about, click here or on the above image, to read the blurb and some sample pages.

Here is a short extract explaining how the Empath’s weakened aura (energy-field) can impair their quality of life:

The Empath Aura

Your aura emanates around you like a luminous egg-shaped sheath. It extends around and away from the body for anything up to five feet (in a healthy person). The vibration of this energetic frame is fine and subtle.

Those who are unhealthy, in their body and mind, have an unhealthy, receded aura which is also permeable (energy leaks out and in).

Our aura both surrounds and penetrates our body and resonates with both our physical and mental bodies. Years’ worth of data is stored within our energy-field; this information is normally an accumulation of happy and sad experiences, ideas and opinions, unreleased painful emotions, negative thought-forms, past life memories and toxins, etc. Because Empaths pick up energy from others, we can also carry inside our aura their negative thought-forms and energy.

A weakened body and mind weakens our aura. Low-level thoughts and emotions, unbalanced chakras, food intolerances, poor diet, drugs and alcohol all impair the body, and anything that debilitates the body damages our aura.

When the aura is damaged, it becomes leaky. This is bad news on many levels: it allows our energy out (causing fatigue and other imbalances), and admits other people’s energy in, which then merges with our own.

Empaths are known to have a permeable aura, and this is why people’s energy can be so debilitating. But they are not the only ones. Anyone who is unhealthy or with emotional issues possess a weakened energy-field, which means their energy and emotions are also able to leak out.

If an Empath comes into close proximity with those who have a leaky aura, they will soak up anything leaked like a super-absorbent sponge. It may appear that strangers’ energy purposely infringes our own, but it is often an energetic merger.

If you are unhealthy, eat an unsuitable diet, take drugs or stimulants, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, experience stress and have dark thoughts you will likely have a permeable aura. This means you pick the emotions and energy off others which then becomes etched within your energy-field. You are also affected by negative residual energy and other low frequency vibrations. The only way to heal the aura is by making some changes.

Experiencing overwhelm, after picking up a stranger’s emotional energy, often means the memory of it gets imprinted. Any future interactions, with unfamiliar energy, may cause something like an “energetic allergic reaction”. These reactions are draining and can leave us feeling well below par for hours or even days. If these responses become a common occurrence, following time spent in public places, it prevents us from fully participating in our own life. This is seen by avoidance of peopled areas and anything that involves social interaction.

By finding total balance of mind, body and spirit, it works something like an “energetic anti-histamine” for the Empath. A healthy body and mind results in a powerful aura and creates the Empath’s invisible armour.

A formidable aura empowers the Empath. It persuades other people’s energy to bounce off and is key to living a happier life.

We cannot expect our mind and spirit to be strong when we are putting something into the body that weakens it. Nor can we expect our body to be strong if we experience “Sensitivity stress”.

Sensitivity Stress

Empaths are Sensitive. Anyone who is Sensitive will experience overwhelming emotions, vivid thoughts, and they get hurt more easily than most. This can lead to Sensitivity stress which compromises the immune system… and eventually results in a damaged aura.

Sensitivity stress is endured by those who experience other people’s emotional pain and energy as an adverse reaction (feeling drained, experiencing negative emotion or becoming unwell), they also overreact to any emotional situation and are prone to having anxiety or panic attacks.

This type of stress is not caused by having deadlines to work to and a mammoth to-do-list (although they certainly won’t help), it is caused by having a Sensitive nature, being overly stimulated from external energy and/or having buried emotional pain. Just like normal stress, it damages the immune system and puts strain on the mind and body. This in turn leads to illness, rampant negative thoughts, and a weakened aura…

So there you go a sneaky peak at what The Empath Awakening is about.

The book will be available for free download until the 21st August. Then it will return to full Kindle price of $7.99 ($14.99 for paperback copy).

You can read the book on any device from your phone, laptop or iPad although you may have to download the free Amazon Kindle App.

Summer Solstice, The Strawberry Moon and Empath Power

This Monday 20th June 2016 befalls a rather special occurrence… The summer solstice.

summer solstice

The summer solstice has long-since been noted as a magical day with a time-honored history of celebrations. This year’s solstice comes with an extra bonus of being a full moon. The last time this occurred was 70 years ago.

There are not many who have ever experienced a celestial event of this magnitude. Having a full Strawberry Moon on the same day as a summer solstice is a truly rare event.

The full moon in June is known as the Full Strawberry Moon because it is the time of year to harvest ripening fruit, which also coincides with the strawberry season.

full moon

If you are sensitive to the energy of full moons and/or solstices, this one will surely pack a magical punch. It is a great time to set your intentions for the year ahead and wonderful period to spend in contemplation and meditation (and to spend as much time as you can in nature) to experience the full magnificence of this occasion.

Empath Power

Empath Power, the book, has now been released. I timed the release to coincide with this magical solstice weekend. It is available in both paperback and eBook versions. Here is a snippet of what it entails:

Empat PowerThere are some major changes happening on the planet affecting Empaths on many levels. These changes bring pain, emotional disruptions, repetitive, negative thought patterns and physical distress.

With any energy shift Empaths, and anyone of a Sensitive nature, get clobbered from all directions. Not only do they endure the discomfort of a shifting period in their own way, but they also pick up on how the populace are experiencing these ups and downs. If you often feel overwhelmed and overloaded by all you have to process during these turbulent times Empath Power is for you.

As an Empath you are one of life’s game changers! It is imperative you stay grounded, protected and healthy during these testing periods and this book is your guide to show you how!

You can go to the Kindle store here to read the first section for free and see if this book is what you might need at this present time.

Have a superb Strawberry Solstice weekend!

Until next time…

Clear Your Empath Emotions with Tapping

EFT Acupressure points

You have probably heard about the emotional freedom technique (EFT), known as Tapping, but did you know it could help balance your Empath emotions?

The premise of EFT is that by tapping certain acupressure/meridian points on the face and body it releases blocked energy and suppressed emotions. Tapping is also known to help with addictions, chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety and for calming persistent thoughts.

The concept of Tapping was derived from the Eastern medicinal systems of acupuncture and acupressure. Both of which use the body’s meridian points to aid in healing. It is claimed that by tapping the acupressure points, with your fingertips, it activates your body’s innate healing power.

For those Empaths who dislike meditation this may be an excellent alternative!

The repetitious practice of Tapping is meditative. Any meditative practice, which stills an Empath’s busy mind and calms their emotions, is of value. Just like meditation, Tapping is a practice one has to build to see the best results. It is said that EFT can calm, and heal, the most powerful of emotions or emotional memories.

It will always be beneficial for the evolving Empath to try new ways of staying in balance.  When you stay in control of your thoughts and emotions it allows you to live happily and without restriction in your own little corner of the world. And for this reason, it is worth giving EFT a try.

Developing the Empath’s Powerful Intuition

Most Empaths have a strong sense of intuition. It is part of who they are and serves them in many ways.

The Empath’s intuitive antenna is always ‘on’ sensing what is right or wrong in their world. But understanding how to read these intuitive signals is important if they want to live a more peaceful and happy life… And, to discover how to do this, the Empath should become better acquainted with their gut sensations.

The “feelings” within the gut, or  solar plexus region, are coming from what is known as the second brain. The sensations come from the enteric nervous system, a network of neurons lining the gut, and responsible for the “butterflies” felt in the stomach area.

Science now recognizes what ancient yogis discovered hundreds of years ago: that the emotions are influenced by the gut nerves.

Everyone feels excitement fear and nervousness in the gut area, but an Empath feels it so much more.
